Body Found Near Georgia Welcome Center

On July 9, 2023, at or about11:30 p.m.., officers at the West Point Police Department responded to a call for service referencing a welfare check of what witnesses believed to be a person laying in the roadway near the Georgia Welcome Center exit onto 85 northbound.
Officers arrived on the scene and found an unresponsive Hispanic male with a single gunshot wound to the chest area.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
On Tuesday, West Point Public Information Officer C.O. Thomas released the identification of the victim as thirty-nine-year-old Juan Cesar Dominguez-Bis.
According to Thomas, the victim is originally from Clinton Township, Michigan
