LAFAYETTE- Over the weekend LaFayette Police discovered a dead body in a wooded area near the City Cemetery. Gator Media reached out to LaFayette Poice Chief George Rampey who told us that the case is under investigation and that his department is working to identify the deceased individual.
On Tuesday, LaFayette Police issued the following press release on the matter:
"On September 10th, 2022, around 8:00 am CST., the LaFayette Police Department and EMS responded to Brookwood SE, near the City Cemetery, in reference to a deceased male in the wooded area.
The deceased male was located approximately 20 feet into the wooded area. The decedent is a slender white male, between 30-40 years old, with brown hair and beard, wearing a navy blue shirt, brown pants, and black shoes", said LaFayette Police.
There was no identification found on him. An investigation is being conducted by the LaFayette Police Department to identify the subject.
The deceased male's body will be transported to the Medical Examiner's Office in Montgomery for an Autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The LaFayette Police Department is working to identify the male and the details that led to his death.
