Donald Wayne Pinney Obituary



Donald Wayne Pinney, age 70, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home in Lanett, Alabama on Monday, April 25, 2022.


He was born May 9, 1951, in West Point, Georgia to his parents Earl William and Nedra Hadaway Pinney.


He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents Jesse James and Effie Hadaway, Lanett, AL and Clarence and Lizzie Pinney, Gering, Nebraska.


He was a graduate of West Point High School, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Masters of Science from the University of Georgia with a focus in history and special education. Donald retired from Lagrange High School where he was a special education paraprofessional. He began his teaching career as a special education and continuing education teacher in the Jackson County School District in Jefferson, Georgia. He was a member of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators.


Prior to completing his masters degree Donald worked in the research department of West Point Pepperell.


During his retirement he enjoyed fishing and weekly card games with his lifelong friends from high school, to whom he was affectionally known as ‘Lash LaRue’.

He is survived by his brother Bill (Melissa) Pinney of Greer, SC and his nephew Jonathan (Stephanie) Pinney of Chattanooga, TN.
