Edith Davis Obituary



Davis Memorial Mortuary announces the passing of Ms. Edith Davis, a resident of Lanett, AL, who passed on Friday, June 17, 2022, at EAMC-Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley, AL.


Graveside Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. (EST) on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Pinehill Cemetery, 2167 22nd St. SW, Lanett, AL with Rev. Dr. Lamar D. Johnson, Officiant/Eulogist. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.


Public Viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, June 22, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.


Ms. Edith Davis was born November 9, 1955, to the late Mr. Johnny and Mrs. Mary Sherman Davis, Sr. in Chambers County, Alabama. She was educated in the Chambers County School System and was a client of Valley Haven in Valley, Alabama for many years.


Edith confessed to Christ at an early age and joined the Mount Hermon Baptist Church of Lanett. She was a member of the Women for Christ Sunday School Class and served as a Matron. Edith was known for saying – “Will you be my friend”, “Will you come to see me” and “I love you”.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Oscar Davis, Johnny Davis, Jr., and Jonah Billingslea; and a sister, Geraldine Jones. Edith Davis departed this life on Friday, June 17, 2022, at EAMC-Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley, Alabama.


She leaves to cherish her memories: two sisters, Evelyn (Ronnie) McCulloh and Vivian Davis; two brothers, Ronnie (Priscilla) Billingslea and Eltin Billingslea; sister-in-law, Anita Billingslea; two special nieces, Heather Cox and Sharonda Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
