Carl Bullard, Jr., better known in the community as Carl passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday. Bullard served on the Lanett Council from 2000-2004, as well as serving on the East Alabama Water Board.

He was known for his kind, friendly, and generous nature, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. and was a man of great work integrity. Above all of his accomplishments, Bullard prided himself on being a family man. Carl was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Mary Kelly Bullard, and their children, Rodney Bullard of LaGrange, GA, Jeremy Bullard of LaGrange, GA, Tamara Story of the Backwaters, Beulah, AL, and Kelly Story Frailey (Shane) of LaGrange, GA. He was a proud grandfather to Allison Nelms, Wesley Bullard, Caleb Bullard, Shayna Bullard, Jadon Bullard, Alyssa Grimes (Dominique), Courtney Bradley (Justin), Tyler Bullard, Jared Hinkle, Luke Frailey (Amber), Wyatt Frailey (Hannah), and Cody Frailey. Carl also had the joy of being a great-grandfather to Brielle Hughes, Aspen Bradley, Emma Bradley, and Bailee McClellan.

Carl's strong work ethic was evident from a young age, as he began working at Looser's Grocery at just 15 years old. He later purchased the business, transforming it into Bullard's Grocery, where he began cooking BBQ. Carl served the Valley community for over 60 years as a veteran butcher and was a member of the Meat Cutters Union. His passion for cooking led him to restore the old Ennis home in Lanett, AL, which became Bullard's BBQ until his health began to decline.

Carl's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness, generosity, and love for his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will continue to inspire those who carry on his values and passions.

Services for Carl will be held on Friday, June 30th, 2023 at 3:00 PM (EDT) at the First Christian Church of Lanett with the Reverend David Bradshaw officiating.
