Herston Announced As New Reading Coach At Fairfax Elementary

Last week, the Chambers County School District Fairfax Elenetary's new Reading Coach Coach

We are pleased to announce Mrs. Katie Herston as Fairfax Elementary's new Reading Coach. Herston comes with 17 years of experience in education, including 12 years of experience in the science of reading. She has experience as a Classroom Teacher, a Special Education Teacher, a Dyslexia Therapist, and a School Psychometrist.

Katie also serves on the Dyslexia Advisory Committee for the state of Alabama. Through these experiences, Katie has developed a passion for reaching struggling readers and believes that every student has the right to learn to read.

She grew up in Valley, Alabama where she attended both Fairfax Elementary School and Valley High School. Katie states that Fairfax Elementary had a huge impact on the teacher she has become.

She is looking forward to continuing the legacy by serving the students, teachers, and parents of Fairfax Elementary.
