LaFayette Man Charged With Attempted Murder

LAFAYETTE- During the past few months crime has been on the rise in East Alabama. Predominately safe areas have seen a spike in crime, and unfortunately, our community in LaFayette has become vulnerable to the national trend that is plaguing many communities nationally.


On Monday, October the 10th, LaFayette Police issued the following press release regarding a LaFayette man who's been charged with attempted murder as well as other charges stemming from a September incident:


"On October 6, 2022, around 3:30 pm, the LaFayette Police Department arrested Pharrell Tayshawn Smith 18 years old of Lafayette, Al in connection with a shooting that occurred on September 1, 2022, near 6th Place Southeast; in the City of Lafayette", said LaFayette Police Chief George Rampey.


Mr. Smith was arrested on the charges of attempted murder, Reckless endangerment, discharging a firearm into an unoccupied dwelling, criminal mischief, and discharging a firearm in the city limits. Mr. Smith is also wanted through the Opelika Police department on unrelated charges.
