Lanett Arrest Two Regarding Bomb Threat



On Wednesday, Lanett Police arrested two residents regarding yesterday's bomb threat at Kroger. Lanett Police issued the following press release regarding those arrests:


"At approximately 4:30 pm on August 2, 2022, Chambers County Dispatch received a 911 call in reference to a possible bomb in Kroger located at 1401 S Gilmer Ave, a thorough sweep of the store and confirmed that the call was false. Upon investigation, it was determined that the person responsible for the phone call was Cassidy Buckner, 22, of Lanett, AL. Bucker was arrested on 8/3/2022 for Reporting a False Incident (Class C Felony) and Obstructing Government Operations (Class A Misdemeanor).

The investigation further revealed that Buckner made the phone call at the request of Robert Leatherwood, 26, of Lanett, AL. At the time of the 911 call, Leatherwood was pulled over by Lanett Police Department during a traffic stop. Leatherwood Requested Buckner call in the bomb threat so that he would be released from the traffic stop", said Lanett Police.


Leatherwood was also charged with Reporting a False Incident on 8/3/2022.
