Lanett Police Assist Lagrange With Arrest

LAGRANGE- This past weekend Lanett Police assisted Lagrange Police in the arrest of an 18-year-old man after a shooting that left two people injured following an altercation in the Baldwin Park Subdivision on Boston Drive in LaGrange.
Following an investigation, authorities identified the shooter as 18-year-old, Ashton Luther Britt.
According to police, Britt drove to the Baldwin Park Subdivision for a physical altercation, and afterward grabbed a gun from his vehicle and opened fire on the following three individuals :
Demetrius Heard
Khalil Stargell
and Dedrick Heard
Demetrius Heard suffered a gunshot injury to the upper torso and was flown via helicopter to a Metro Atlanta hospital.
Dedrick Heard was also struck during the incident and sustained non-life- threatening injuries with a bullet grazing his wrist.
Britt fled the scene, and Lagrange issued multiple warrants for his arrest where nearby Lanett Police intercepted and apprehended the suspect.
"Lagrange police met us at the scene where we charged the suspect", said Lanett Police Chief Johnny Wood.
Britt was charged with three counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Britt was booked into the Chambers County Jail and later extradited to Georgia for his charges.
