LEE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT ARREST TWO FOR ASSAULT ON AN ELDERLY PERSON
Lee County Sheriff Deputies have arrested a couple in reference to a family altercation resulting in the hospitalization of an elderly woman in Opelika.
"On December 24th, 2021, Lee County Deputies responded to Lee Rd. 2025 in Opelika in reference to a physical altercation between an elderly female(82) and her son and daughter-in-law. The altercation resulted in the elderly female being transported to East Alabama Medical Center for her injuries. She was then transported to Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery where it was determined that she suffered a fractured spine, 2 brain bleeds, and multiple bruises and abrasions. She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit to be treated for her injuries.
On Feb. 23rd, 2022, Lee County Investigators arrested and charged the son, Charles Thomas Fields Jr. (47) from Opelika, with Domestic Violence Assault 2nd Degree. He is being held in the Lee County jail on a $15,000.00 bond. Also arrested was daughter-in-law Linda McDuffie Fields (46) from Opelika. She was arrested and charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree and has since been released on a $15,000.00 bond", said the Lee County Sheriff's Department in a press release.
