Lee County Sheriff's Department Open Homicide Investigation Regarding The Death Of Resident


On Saturday, Lee County Sheriff deputies responded to a fatality of a resident.


"On March 5 at approximately 4:26 pm CST, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a body being located in a wooded area off Lee Road 140 Salem near Griffen Mill. Responding deputies arrived and confirmed that the body was that of an adult male who was situated in the wood line approximately 60 yards behind a house in the 1600 block of Lee Road 140. Sheriff’s investigators were called to the scene and discovered that the deceased had suffered what appeared to be at least one gunshot wound to the upper body", said the Lee County Sheriff's Department in a press release.


Lee County Coroner Harris pronounced the victim (age 57) deceased at the scene. The victim has been transported to the Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for a post mortem examination. Persons of interest have been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
