Johnson Brown announces the passing of the following:
Mr. Harold Lee Lauderdale, age 73, of Lanett, Alabama passed away on Monday, August 22nd, 2022 in Opelika, Alabama. He was born on July 3rd, 1948 in Eufaula, Alabama.
Harold grew up in the Shawmut community and graduated from Valley High School. Upon graduation, he joined the 825 Security Police Sq, United States Air Force stationed in Little Rock, Arkansas where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. After completion of service as an Air Police Supervisor, including deployment to Taipei, Taiwan, he was honorably discharged in 1969 as a Sergeant.
Harold attended Auburn University and received a Bachelor of Science and Education. He enjoyed many years of service in the textiles industry with West Point Pepperell and later Johnston Industries. During that time, he taught Textile Production & Management at Auburn University, developed and obtained a patent for a method of making a reinforcing fabric for power transmission belts, hoses, and the like, and finally ended his career as Plant Manager of Langdale & Shawmut Mills.
Harold was known for his love of 1960’s music and spending evenings on the deck singing oldies with friends. He married his high school sweetheart, Deborah, and recently celebrated 53 years of marriage. They raised their two children in Lanett, AL, and later in life, he enjoyed living near his six grandsons and sharing words of wisdom with them. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
Harold is survived by his wife of 53 years, Deborah Lauderdale; daughter, Hollie Zachry (David); son, Mark Lauderdale (Lindsey); grandchildren, Miles Zachry, Brooks Zachry, Colton Zachry, Austin Morgan, Lawton Lauderdale, and Russell Lauderdale; sister, Susan Otto; brother, Donnie Lauderdale.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Perryman; and brother, Rusty Smith.
Memorial services with Military Honors will be held on Monday, August 29th, 2022 at 11:00 AM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Pastor Rusty Letson will officiate. Harold’s family will receive friends Monday morning from 10:00 AM (EST) until the service hour at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jeanette Smith, 81, a resident of Lake Harding, AL passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at her residence. A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 27, 2022, from the Blanton Baptist Church with Bro. Francis Irmiter and Rev. Ronnie Jordan officiating.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband of 54 years, Vernon Smith; son, Marc Smith (Karen); three grandchildren, Jonathan Smith (Kera); Elijah Smith (Hosanna); & Isaac Smith (Emily); and four great-grandchildren, Asa, Eden, Emery, & Eva. A son, John Vernon Smith, Jr. preceded her in death.
She was born in Atlanta, GA on August 19, 1941, and raised in Decatur, GA and, was a graduate of Southwest DeKalb High School. She was a member of Blanton Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blanton Baptist Church or to Chattahoochee Hospice.

Eddie Sanford Estes, III, 41, of LaGrange, Georgia passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022
Eddie was born on June 2, 1981, in LaGrange, Georgia to Jo Burdick and the late Eddie Sanford Estes, Jr. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Alan Estes, grandparents, Eddie Sanford Estes, Sr. and Katie Estes, James and Martha Messer, and Ben Burdick.
Eddie loved life and he lived life to the fullest.
He was an avid University of Georgia Bulldogs football fan and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, playing paintball, mountain biking, and riding jet skis on the lake. Eddie loved all of his animals – especially his chickens.
Eddie was gifted in working with computers and enjoyed building computers and repairing them.
He is survived by his son, Eli Estes (Chloe), mother, Jo Burdick (Rick), sister, Nikki Rice (Eric), sister, Sheryl Estes (Jim), brother, Chris Burdick (Emily), special friend, Autumn Barcus, grandmother, Marie Mosele, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel in Valley with the Reverend Jeff McCartney officiating.

Vines Funeral Home announces the passing of Mrs. Charlene Blunt Holloway, 88, of LaFayette died Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Dadeville Health Care Center, Dadeville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Vines Funeral Home Chapel, LaFayette at 1:00 p.m. (CST) with Rev. Calvin Trammell officiating. Interment will be in Essie J. Handy cemetery, LaFayette. The remains will lie in state at the chapel from 12:00 p.m. (CST) until the funeral hour. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, August 30, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (CST) at Vines Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Holloway was a member of Friendship Baptist Church #1, LaFayette from early childhood until later in life. She then joined Hopewell Baptist Church, Wadley in 2011. Mrs. Holloway was preceded in death by her husband, Hines Wilson Holloway. She worked in the health care industry for over 40 years; and, served eight years as a LaFayette City Council Representative for District C (1996-2004). Mrs. Holloway is survived by four daughters: Annette Davis, Stone Mountain, GA, Susan (Willie) Hughley and Joyce (Doyle) Moss both of Opelika and Judy Holloway, Montgomery; one step daughter: Esther Williams, Lanett; two sons: Charles (Virginia) Holloway, Hamilton, GA and Tommy (Sandra) Holloway, LaFayette; two sisters: Christine Davis, West Point, GA and Olla Mae (Willie) Hill, Valley; one brother: George Blunt, Opelika; five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
