Johnson Brown Funeral Home announces the passing of Ms. Jenny Spear Chasse‘, age 40, of Opelika, Alabama passed away on Sunday, July 10th, 2022 in Auburn, Alabama. She was born on November 22nd, 1981 in Columbus, Georgia.


Jenny was a strong Christian and always wanted to make sure everyone knew the Lord. Jenny’s heart for the community, especially women and children, radiated into her work and speech. She served as director of Alabama Baptist Children’s Home in Oxford, AL for some time, launched and directed Camp Providence in her home community, and worked and volunteered for numerous other family-focused organizations. Jenny was a joy and inspiration to anyone she met, and she will leave a memorable place in the hearts of all who knew her.


Jenny is survived by her daughter, Ella Grace Chasse‘; father, Danny Spear (Brenda); brother, Russell Spears (Charity); sisters, Beth Ford (Justin), Meredith Spear, and Julie Spear; nieces, Lucy Mae Carroll, Emma Jane Carroll, and Sarah Kalyn Ford; nephews, William Shelton Ford and Miller Thomas Ford; special friend and caregiver, Ashleigh Causey.


She was preceded in death by her mother, Owena Colley Jenkins; maternal grandparents, Owen Colley and Jeanene Colley; paternal grandparents, Thomas “Bo” Spear and Doris Spear.


Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 12th, 2022 at 11:00 AM (CDT)/12:00 Noon (EDT) at the graveside in Garden Hills Cemetery in Opelika, Alabama. The Reverend Rusty Sowell and the Reverend Dan Garrett will officiate. Jenny’s family will receive friends Tuesday morning in the cemetery from 10:30 AM (CDT) / 11:30 AM (EDT) until the service hour.


Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to One Voice Shelter Coalition, PO Box 2591, Opelika, AL 36801 in her memory.

Mrs. Peggy Ann Jones Rodgers, 75 a resident of Lanett, AL passed away peacefully Friday, July 8, 2022, at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at 10:30 AM EST from Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley with Rev. Aaron McCollough officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM EST at the funeral home.


Mrs. Rodgers is survived by her husband of 55 years, Darryl Rodgers; three children, Darryl E. Rodgers (Connie), Elizabeth Fowler (Jason), Randy Rodgers (Angie); brothers, David Ludlum (Diane), Billy Ludlum (Brenda), Robbie Ludlum (Phyllis); sister, Jackie White (Jay); seven grandchildren, Kevin & Kelli Rodgers, Jacob (Laci) & Austin Fowler; Alexa Pratt, Jacey & Aubrey Rodgers; five great-grandchildren, Cameron, Kynleigh, & Kole Rodgers, Jace Fowler, & Lucas Pratt.


She was born to Welcome and Annie Jones on January 7, 1947, in Winter Haven, FL. She was a 1965 graduate of Wetumpka High School. She married her husband Darryl Rodgers on January 6, 1967. She was retired from West Point Stevens and was a member of Flat Shoals Baptist Church. In her spare time, she liked to read. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


Pallbearers will be Darryl E. Rodgers, Randy Rodgers, Jacob Fowler, Austin Fowler, Kevin Rodgers, and Jason Fowler.
