Johnson Brown Funeral Home announces the passing of Mr. L. Allen Hinkle, age 78 of Lanett, Alabama passed away on Friday, June 3rd, 2022 at his residence.
Allen was born on December 28th, 1943 in LaFayette, Alabama. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lanett and a 1965 graduate of Auburn University. He spent his career in textiles with West Point Pepperell and Wellington Sears where he had many friends for years. He was an active volunteer throughout his life with Junior Achievement, the Chamber of Commerce, and the First Baptist Church of Lanett. He was a car enthusiast who also enjoyed raising and riding horses in his spare time. He loved spending time with his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all.
Allen is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Jenkins Hinkle; daughter, Julie Hinkle Smith (Lee); grandchildren, Dawson Hinkle, Seth Hinkle, Shelby Smith, Claire Smith, and Hudson Smith; sisters, Carolyn H. Davis, Peggy H. Colley, Beth H. Hendrix, and Katrina Canada Morris; daughter in law, Holli J. Smith.
He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Allen Hinkle.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 7th, 2022 at 11:00 AM (EST) at the graveside in Johnson Memorial Gardens in Valley. The Reverend Ronnie Jordan will officiate. Allen’s family will receive friends Tuesday morning from10:00 AM (EST) until the service hour at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
