Johnson-Brown announces the passing of Mr. Hal R. Chase of Valley, Alabama passed away on March 11, 2022, at the Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama. Mr. Chase was born on October 9th, 1956.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Gravitt Chase; mother, Eddie Chase; uncle, Jeff (Sharon) Burnett; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles “Chick” Chase; and his brother, Monty Chase.
Mr. Chase was a member of Shawmut United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a well-known carpenter for over 40 years.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 14th, 2022 at 2:00 PM (EST) at the graveside in Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett, Alabama. The Reverend Rusty Letson will officiate. Mr. Chase’s family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:00 PM (EST) until the service hour in the cemetery.
His family suggests that memorials be made to Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama, or to Chattahoochee Hospice in Valley, Alabama in his memory.

Higgins Funeral Home in Lagrange, Georgia announces the passing of Daniel Brown Curtis.
Danny was born on April 12, 1937, to Durwood Curtis and Sylvia Walters Curtis in Clark County, Kentucky. He was raised in Winchester, Kentucky until he joined the military in 1954.
Danny was preceded in death by his father Durwood Curtis, his mother Sylvia Walters Curtis, and brothers Paul Curtis, Kenneth Curtis, Ronald Curtis, and Ford Curtis.
Danny is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Martha Sheppard Curtis, wonderful daughter Martha Paige Stewart (Billy Stewart), four precious grandchildren, Grayson Stewart, Olivia Stewart, Anna Kate Stewart, and Talbot Stewart, all of Chattanooga, TN. He is also survived by two sisters, Sylvia Lucille Frailey of Mt Sterling, KY, and Estella Mae Chambers of Winchester, KY, and a host of loving brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews in both GA and KY.
Danny loved God and Country. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-to 1957 during the Korean War and was stationed in Korea, Iceland, and the Savannah Defense (Nuclear Power Plant) during that time. Following his military service, Danny was employed by West Point Foundry and Machinery before retiring in 1999. He also worked at WCJM for 30 years as a gospel DJ.
Danny had a great love for Southern Gospel Music. He sang with the Brown Brothers Quartet (Valley, AL) and the Danny Curtis Singers for 25 years and later, the Reunion Quartet.
Danny was Nazarene by faith and a long-time member of First Church of the Nazarene in Lanett, AL, and served as a Deacon for many years. He also served on the Advisory Board for the South District of Alabama Church of the Nazarene, which is the highest office a layperson can serve. He later became a member of Shawmut Nazarene Church of Valley, AL, and most recently attended Grace Baptist Church of LaGrange, GA which he dearly loved.
Danny was an avid supporter of Valley Haven School in Valley, AL receiving their “Man of the Year Award” in 2019. He also served as manager for the Troup County Board of Elections for twenty years.
Danny always enjoyed playing golf and was an avid supporter of The University of Alabama – ROLL TIDE!, where two of his grandchildren currently attend. Most of all, Danny loved spending time with his family, especially his four grandchildren. He loved his grandchildren with all his heart, and they loved their PawPaw back just as much.
Danny’s visitation was held on Sunday, March 13, 2022, from 2-4 at Higgins Funeral Home and his Celebration of Life Service is Monday, March 14, 2022, at Grace Baptist Church from 2-4 p.m. Rev. Ken Wyatt and Rev. Sid Shelnutt officiating. Higgins Funeral Home provided such wonderful service to the family during this time. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Florence Hand and Hospice Care.

A private funeral service for the immediate family will be held Monday, March 14, 2022, at Pine Grove Baptist Church, Dadeville at 12:00 p.m. (CST) with Rev. G. H. Pulliam officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Rev. Canady is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-one years: Dorothy Russell Canady, Dadeville; one son: Christopher Canady, Gadsden; two daughters: LaColya (Wheeler) Jones and Nortasha Pearson both of Dadeville; four sisters: Nelba (Henry) Crayton, Camp Hill, Clarice Davis, Marie (Rev. Mac Authur) Moss and Valeria Jones all of Dadeville; six brothers: Melvin (Uli) Canady, Munich, Germary, Milford (Mrytis) Canady, Jr., Timothy (Jodi) Canady, Frankie Moss, Fredrick Moss all of Dadeville and Edward Russell, Opelika; five granddaughters, six grandsons, twenty-one great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
