Johnson Brown Funeral Home announces the passing of Mrs. Deborah Brown Buchanan, 69, of Valley, Alabama passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at her residence.
Mrs. Buchanan was born in Langdale, Alabama on July 25, 1952 to the late David Lee Brown and Mattie Frances Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Wayne Buchanan, Sr., son, Phillip Wayne Buchanan, Jr., siblings, Jennifer Diane Brown, Robert Andrew “Randy” Brown, and Jimmy Lee Brown.
Deborah was a member of Davidson Baptist Church in West Point, Georgia, where she was a very active member.
She enjoyed bowling and was a happy camper spending time at West Point Lake with her friends.
She was retired as a school bus driver from the Chambers County Board of Education.
Mrs. Buchanan is survived by her daughters, Natalie Buchanan Eldridge (John), Della Buchanan Cheeney (John); grandchildren, John (Danielle) Cheeney, Justin (Samantha) Cheeney, Phillip (Jennifer) Buchanan, Connor Buchanan, Blythe Buchanan, Ethan Buchanan, Jax Cheeney; 5 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 2:00P.M. EDT at the Davidson Baptist Church in West Point, Georgia. Her family will be receiving friends at the church Monday evening from 6:00P.M. EDT until 8:00P.M. EDT. Brother Howard Longshore and Brother John E. Eldridge, Jr. officiating.

Marshall Strickland, affectionately known as “Uncle Bah”, age 79, of Cusseta, Alabama passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at his residence.
Mr. Strickland was born in Langdale, Alabama on June 26, 1942, to the late Warner Strickland and Valera Johnson Strickland.
Mr. Strickland was a hardworking man with a wonderful sense of humor. His friends often referred to him as a “card”.
Marshall enjoyed working in his yard and he loved his rose garden. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching the University of Alabama football, and the Atlanta Braves.
He is survived by his wife, Pearlene Strickland; children, Toni Adams (Nathan), Matt Strickland, Melissa Royster; grandchildren, Paris Ruddock, Jacob Van Wettering (Bridget), Matthew Strickland, Joseph Gore (Kim Dean), Raiden Strickland, Brandon Ruddock (Elizabeth); great-grandchildren, Destiny, Preston, and Brooklyn Baltes, Madison Dean, Dalton Dean.

Mr. Ronald E. “Frog” Clifton, age 60, of Lanett, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, May 4th, 2022 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born on March 21st, 1962 in Langdale, Alabama.
Mr. Clifton was preceded in death by his father, Donald Clifton; mother, Joyce Amason; grandparents, Sam and Mary Clifton; his fur baby, Pebbles.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 28 years, Mylinda Clifton; siblings, Donald “Tim” Clifton, Anita Allen (Tom), William Clifton (Angel), and Jackie Nichols (Kris); several aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins, his fur babies, Lucy, Zoe, and Scooby.
Mr. Clifton enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, wood working, and riding motorcycles.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 7th, 2022 at the graveside in Hillcrest Cemetery with Pastor Derrick Rutledge will officiating.
Bluffton Funeral Services announces the passing of On May 6, 2022, James Fred Shirley, who passed away at his home in Lanett.
He was born March 3, 1938. He graduated from Goshen High School in 1956 and continued his education at Troy State where he graduated with a BSA in education in 1960. He moved to the Valley area and taught first at Lafayette-Lanier Elementary School. In 1971 he continued his teaching career at Springwood School as a teacher and as Assistant Head Master until his retirement in 2000.
He then went on to help his late wife, Josephine Shirley and son, Dave Shirley at Dave Shirley Photography for many years. He enjoyed helping with the finishing touches on the photographs that clients had ordered and also keeping up the lawn and garden area at the Studio. His parents were the late James A. Shirley and the late Naomi Shirley.
Fred is survived by both his son Dave Shirley and his daughter in-law Lisa Shirley. He is also survived by his brother Tom Shirley of Ashford, AL and his sister Peggy Blair of Dallas, TX. His sister Jeanette Meads preceded him in death.
