Steven Brian Sanders, age 45 of Lanett, Al was charged with Failure to Appear (Traffic)

Lucius Jaqulius Jones, age 35 of Lanett, Al was charged with Possession of Marijuana 1st and Attempting to Elude

Charlene Ladawn Kelley, age 37 of Valley, Al was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia x 2, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Promoting Prison Contraband

Theft of Property 1st was reported in the 900 block of S 8th St.

Harassment was reported in the 100 block of N Gilmer Ave.

Johnson Brown announces the passing of the following:


Mary “Jane” Dunn Mason of Florence left this life Saturday, August 6, 2022, at her home in Florence, Mississippi. She was 79 years old.


Mrs. Mason was born in West Point, GA, to Curtis and Gladys Dunn. After a short marriage that produced two children, she met the love of her life and married Bobbie Lee Mason. After moving to Mississippi, she attended and graduated from the school of Nursing, at Hinds Jr. College in 1979. She worked as a nurse for the next 41 years, helping those that needed her. She was also an avid Alabama football fan.


Along with her parents, Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Bobbie Lee Mason; sisters, Shelia and Janice; brother, Curtis “Bubba” Jr.; son, Randy; stepsons, Stephen and Mike.

She is survived by her daughter, Jackie; sons, Bobbie Lee, Jr. and Richard; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.


Her devotion to her family, friends, football, and work will always be remembered and cherished.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 10:00A.M. EDT at Langdale Cemetery.

Alice Bernice Bonner, age 74, of Valley, AL passed at EAMC-Opelika on Wednesday,

August 3rd, 2022. She was born on September 15, 1947, in Wisner, LA to

The late Leo & Audrey Wright.


She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Sonny Wright & Roger Wright, and her son, James Bonner.


Alice is survived by her daughter, Lisa Scott (Damon) of Valley, Al.; three

grandchildren, Brittany Bonner, of Valley, AL; Brandon Bonner (Margarita)

of Salem, AL, and Rebekah Shaddix (Josh) of Opelika, AL; her sister, Carolyn

Banderia of Brandon, Mississippi; her beloved life partner, Thomas Pintar

(aka)” Papa Tom”. For the past 20 years, he was the love of her life.


He spoiled her with trips around the world. She has four great-grandchildren, Kenadee Foster, Millie Jane Bonner, Barrett, and Eliana Bonner; along with nieces and nephews and bonus great-grandchildren.


She was called granny by all who knew and loved her. If you knew her, you

would only see the strong woman she was and she was our rock. It is now time for

us to be hers. She loved and served the Lord Jesus and was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church, in Valley.


Her hobbies were crafts, cooking, sewing planting flowers, and feeding her grand fur babies, Gus & Bella. She worked at West Point Stevens for many years.


She will be laid to rest in the Arms of Jesus on Friday, August 12, 2022, with a memorial service at 2:00 PM EST at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley, Alabama with Rev. Tim Bass officiating.

Ms. Deborah Jean “Debbye” LeNoir, age 69, of Lanett, Alabama passed away on Saturday, August 6th, 2022 with family by her side.


Ms. LeNoir was born in West Point, Georgia on May 5th, 1953 to the late Esco A. LeNoir, Jr. and the late Mattie Pike LeNoir. She was also preceded in death by her three sisters, Donna McMillan, Nancy French, and Linda Webb; and her brother, Sonny LeNoir.


She is survived by her daughter, Crystal LeNoir Sanders; her brother, Robin LeNoir (Gena); her two beloved grandchildren, Jade and Devin Sanders; also with special mention of all her loving nieces and nephews.


Ms. LeNoir loved her friends and family and never let them leave her presence without blowing them kisses and saying “love you, love you, love you”. Those kisses and her unconditional love will forever be missed.


The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Southern Springs Health & Rehabilitation Center for all of the special care, support, and love they have shown over the years.


Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 11th, 2022 at 3:00 PM (EST) at the graveside in Fredonia United Methodist Church Cemetery. No visitation is planned.

Mrs. Martha Faye Fetner Yarbrough, age 86, of Valley, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, August 8, 2022. She was born July 8, 1936, to the late Frank and Effie Fetner.


Faye is survived by her devoted husband, Felton Eugene Yarbrough; her loving son, Michael (Jan) Yarbrough of Valley; two granddaughters, Tai (William) Boos and Teel (Adam) Traylor all of Auburn, Alabama; the five lights of her life, her great-grandchildren, Bella Boos, Sadie Traylor, Connor Boos, AJ Traylor, and Michael Traylor all of Auburn, Alabama; two sisters, Glennella Hall and Nellie Lynn of Valley; two brothers, George Fetner and Marvin (Dottie) Fetner of Valley; and a multitude of nieces and nephews who all adore their Aunt Faye.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her precious daughter, Sheree who was never far from her thoughts; her brothers Dwight Fetner, Bill Fetner, and Charlie Fetner; and her sisters Dorothy Nell Fetner, Mary Brown, Lucille Tomer, Sara Moore, and Betty Phipps.


Nanny, as she was known by her immediate family, was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church, where she spent decades serving in the nursery, singing in the choir, taking care of children in Vacation Bible School, hosting bridal and baby showers, and supporting a variety of other ministries. She was so grateful for her church family and truly lived to serve. Faye loved Jesus and loved the people around her. She always welcomed friends, neighbors, and everyone else with open arms and treated them like family. She had a way of letting people know they are special and loved.


Psalm 16:11 says, “In your presence, there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” While she will certainly be missed on this side of glory, we rejoice in knowing that Nanny is in the presence of her Savior and is basking in the fullness of joy. She set her mind on the things of Heaven and stored up her treasures there. What a blessing she now has in laying them down before the throne of God.


Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at the Fairview Baptist Church with interment following in Fairfax Cemetery.

Mrs. Cosper was born on February 19, 1922, in Chambers County to the late Beulah and Lonnie Marshall. She was preceded in death by her husband Morris Cosper, six brothers, 4 sisters, and granddaughter Tina Anderson.


Susie has been referred to by many as one of the sweetest souls and was cherished by her family and friends, She was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Lanett, Alabama, and Grandmother Cosper loved the lord with all her heart. She prayed fervently for her family, and come to know the Lord. She could always be found sitting on her couch reading her Bible daily. She loved quilting for her family and tending to her flower garden. When asked what her secret was to a long life, her reply was "working hard".


She is survived by 5 children: Barbara (Darryl) Hughes of Oden, Arkansas, Lee Ruston of LaFayette, Alabama, Julia (Larry) Richardson of Marcoot, Alabama, Ronnie (Marsha) Cosper of Roanoke, Alabama, Ken (Pam) Cosper of Sharpsburg, Georgia, 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren.
