Johnson Brown Funeral Home announces the passing of Mrs. Deborah Jean Holmes Broach, 69, a resident of Valley, AL passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at EAMC Opelika. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM EST Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Johnson Memorial Gardens with Rev. Paul Messer officiating.


Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM EST at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather at the gravesite for the service.


Mrs. Broach is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles Broach; son, Christopher Broach; grandchildren, Kaitlyn McCormick (Dustin), Brittany Jarnagin, Madison Henson (Andrew); great-grandchildren, Kolt & Cooper McCormick, Cotter Jarnagin, Cyrus Marshall, Corbin Bentley, & Stella Henson; and two sisters, Joyce Hurst & Kathy Tenpas.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon & Nell Holmes; daughter, Daphne Crawford, granddaughter, Arianna Peardon Broach and a sister, Dorothy Stewart.


She was born on August 8, 1952 in Langdale, AL and was a member of Langdale United Methodist Church. He loved her family, especially her great-grandchildren.

Johnson Brown Funeral Home also announces the passing of Mrs. Annie Ruth Thomas Teague, age 88, of Lanett, Alabama entered Heaven’s Gates on Sunday, June 5th, 2022 at the EAMC Lanier Nursing Home.


Mrs. Teague was born on May 3, 1934 in Louina, Randolph County, Alabama to her late parents James and Ada Rochester Thomas. The Thomas family made their home in Roanoke, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years T.J. Teague; grandson, Timothy James Teague, II; great-grandson, Dallas Reed Moncus; brothers, Billy Thomas, Bobby Thomas, Arthur Thomas; sisters, Kattie Baldwin, Ada Jimmie Smith, Darie Hodges, Grace Scott, Peggy Anglin.


Mrs. Teague is survived by her four children, Cindy (Krallin) Hodge, Tim (Beverly) Teague, Phil (Kathy) Teague, Lisa (Jimbo) Richardson; grandchildren, Steve (Cathy) Hodge, Ken (Kelli) Hodge, Jon (Alaine) Hodge, Cathy (Barry) Cupp, Tia (Len) Sweet, Josh (Whitney) Teague, Lindsey Teague Moncus, Rebekah (Josh) Asslin, Jacob (Amber) Richardson, Micah (Ashley) Richardson, Ethan Richardson; 19 great grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren, with another due in December 2022; sisters, Hazel Franklin, Frances Bowles, Mary Lou Nichols.


Ruth loved her family with a Christian mother’s heart. Her children and grandchildren brought her much happiness through her life, and she embraced them dearly. She also loved her Lord and Savior, and with the voice of an Angel sang of her love for him daily. Ruth grew up in a Pentecostal family and Southern Gospel Music was deeply rooted in every aspect of her life. She also learned the value of hard work growing up the daughter of James (Junk) Thomas, who taught all of his children how to work with their hands. It was not unusual to see Mrs. Ruth Teague cleaning copper with her husband, T.J., and the same day picking vegetables to can or cook for her family.


“Mom always looked forward to her family reunions. She would do everything she could to fix her delicious fried okra, peas, and green beans. And we will never forget her delicious strawberry and blackberry cobblers. We must believe she is having the best reunion ever now with all of her family who arrived before her at her home. You could see her on weekends scouting out yard sales, going through classified ads, and planning her trip for the day. She would go and return home with her car loaded down with her bargains. She also liked to read and do crossword puzzles.”


Ruth and T.J. moved to White Springs, Florida in 1978 and then returned home in 1997.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 12:00P.M. EDT (Noon) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel in Valley with interment following in Hillcrest Cemetery. Her family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Saturday morning from 11:00A.M. EDT until the service hour.


Pallbearers will be Josh Teague, Jacob Richardson, John Hodge, Ken Hodge, Micah Richardson, Braydon Moncus, Ethan Richardson, Austin Teague, and Steve Hodge.

Davis Memorial Mortuary announces the passing of Dorothy Patterson, affectionately known as “Neema", was born April 30, 1934 in Lockport, New York. She peacefully departed this life on June 5, 2022, at Chapman Health Facility in Alexander City Alabama.

Dorothy was fiercely devoted to those she loved. She was never one to complain regardless of her situation and always carried a warm smile. She had a witty sense of humor, outstanding personality and never met a stranger. She loved everyone and was always willing to help in any way she could.

She was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters, her spouse, Larry Moore and both her children, Susan Ficarra and Charlie Lynch.

Her memories will be cherished by friends and family that loved her more than words can express.

She is survived by Her Grandson, Chris (Stephanie) Ficarra, Granddaughters, Dana (Scott) Huff and Denise Lynch. Her son in law, Mike Hanel and daughter in law, Shauna Lynch. Her Great Grandsons, Justin Ficarra, Cole Huff, Christian Huff and Carson Brewer. Her Great Granddaughter, Tiffany (Dylan) Ficarra Wicker. Her Great Great Granddaughter, Bayley Wicker. Very special friends, Freda and Glenda. Her “bonus” family, Bo (Patti) Royal, Stacy (Keith) Guess, Sheryl (Jason)Stewart, Allyson (Joe) Lee, Garrett (Tori) Guess, Zoe Royal.

Davis Memorial Mortuary also announces the passing of Ms. Jessie Mae Trammell, 74, a resident of Roanoke, AL, who passed on Monday, June 6, 2022 at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, AL.


Graveside Services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. (CST) on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Five Points, AL with Rev. Calvin Trammell officiating. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.


Public Viewing is scheduled for Friday, June 10, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. (CST) at Davis Memorial Mortuary.


A Chambers County native, Ms. Trammell was the daughter of the late Ralph & Carrie Lee Trammell. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Five Points, AL and a 1969 graduate of Randolph County Training School. She studied CNA at Randolph County Hospital before a 37 year career at Candlewick Yarns.


She is survived by: one son, Corey (Parquitta) Trammell, LaFayette, AL; one grandchild, Teiliyah Patterson, Nashville, TN; six siblings; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.

Vines Funeral Home announces the passing of Mr. Donald Eugene Kirk, 68, of Roanok, who passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange, GA. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Vines Funeral Home Chapel at 12:00 p.m. (CST) with Rev. William Phillips officiating. Public viewing will be at the Chapel one hour before the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (CST). Mr. Kirk is survived by his devoted wife of thirty-five years: Patsy Pinkard Kirk, Roanoke; one daughter: Erika Kirk Levett, Montgomery; one brother: Jesse (Maggie) Kirk, Roanoke; one sister: Essie Murph, Montgomery; brothers and sisters-in-law: Roxie Joiner, Georgia (Rev. William) Phillips, Lela Brady, Juanita (Bishop Lathonia) Wright, Catherine Pinkard and Robert R. Pinkard all of Roanoke and Lucille Pinkard, Jacksonville, FL & Paula Kirk, Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren: Aubree, Rylee and Benjamin and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
