Johnson-Brown announces the passing of Michael Joe “Mike” Keeble of Newnan, Georgia (formerly of Valley, AL) passed away peacefully on Monday, 21 March 2022 at his home at 35 Fairway Ct., Newnan surrounded by his loved ones.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Willie Joe Keeble, mother Mary Kathryn Hill Wallace, and his dear friend, Luke Gunnells. He is survived by special friends including Harry “Snapper” (Jackie) Elsey, children Allison and Elliott Elsey of North Augusta SC, Jim (Benita)Gunnells of Cusseta, AL, David (Pam)Thomason of Winder, GA, and Maria Hackenson of Newnan, GA.
Mike was born September 22, 1944, in Valley, AL. At an early age, he had extraordinary athletic skills, winning various youth sports competitions which he developed much further due to hours of practice in everything he pursued. He graduated from Valley High School in 1962 having excelled in academics as well as in all team sports, including football, basketball, and baseball. Mike was Alabama Allstate in basketball and baseball and scored 56 points in a basketball game his senior year, which was the record for points by a player at VHS.
Mike received a B.S. in Business Administration from Auburn University in 1967 where he was on the golf and basketball teams. After graduation, he was drafted into the Army and proudly served with the U.S. Army Rangers. Later, as a platoon leader and First Lieutenant in Viet Nam, his platoon came under enemy fire, and though he was severely wounded, he crawled onto the battlefield to help wounded soldiers back to safety. He spent 22 months recovering from numerous surgeries at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and while there he was promoted to Captain. Among his many military awards, he also received the Purple Heart and Silver Star for his bravery.
Mike moved to Atlanta (and later to Newnan) where he worked for Delta Airlines as a flight/crew scheduler for 27 years. During this time he received numerous awards. He even became the undefeated Ping Pong champ at Delta. His life was continually enriched as he developed many long-lasting relationships with colleagues, old friends, and others through a common love for golf. , are still sharing stories and good times spent with Mike. He created nicknames for most of them!
Mike attended First United Methodist Church in Newnan. His hobbies included: playing golf, traveling, reading and tailgating with friends at Auburn home games.
There will be a visitation at 1:00 pm-2:00 pm on Saturday, 26 March 2022 at Johnson Brown Funeral Home, Valley, AL. A private graveside service led by Rev. David Bradshaw will follow at Johnson Brown Memorial Gardens behind the funeral home. Chaplain Earnestine Sinkfield of Kindred Hospice Newnan, whose multiple visits to Mike inspired him so much, will also participate in the service.

Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Boone, age 78, of Valley, Alabama passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at the EAMC Lanier Hospital in Valley.
Mrs. Boone was born on October 3, 1943, in West Point, Georgia to the late James Earl Nix, Sr., and Mary Emma Gray Nix. She was also preceded in death by her husband Danny Boone, her son Jimmy Boone, siblings, Eithel Nix, Patsy Nix, and James Earl Nix, Jr.
She was a member of Lanier Baptist Church. She retired from Wal-Mart after 17 years of service.
Mrs. Boone enjoyed art, sewing, poetry and she loved animals.
She is survived by her daughter, Polly Boone (Angela Sampson), grandson, Carter Sampson, sister, Sue Ellen Darby (Bobby), Nephews, Fletcher O’Dell Darby (Teresa), and James Earl Darby, and her loyal and special furbaby, Gidget.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022, at 10:30 A.M. EDT from Johnson Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Rusty Letson will be officiated. Her family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday from 9:30 A.M. EDT until the service hour.

Ms. Gerry DeLoach Holley, age 64, of Valley, Alabama passed away on Monday, March 21st, 2022 in Opelika, Alabama. Gerry was born on December 1st, 1957 in Langdale, Alabama to the late Earnest Wayne DeLoach and Patsy Terry DeLoach.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shawmut. She was a very outgoing person who never met a stranger. Her family was her life and she loved them with all her heart. Her world revolved around her grand darlings. Her favorite hobbies were whatever activity her children or grand darlings were participating in. She always ended her phone calls with “I love you too much” or “I love you more”.
Gerry is survived by her children, Jeremy (Dixie) DeLoach, Jennifer DeLoach, and Jonathan (Kitty) DeLoach; grandchildren, Hunter Sorrells, Katelyn DeLoach, Judson DeLoach, Austin VanMeter, Kaley DeLoach, Jackson DeLoach, and Jace DeLoach; sister, Terry (Danny) Gosdin; nephews, Timothy (Angie) Gosdin and Joshua (Jennifer) Gosdin; great-nieces and nephews, Heaven Gosdin, Logan Gosdin, and Harley Gosdin.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 25th, 2022 at 3:00 PM (EST) at the Langdale United Methodist Church in Valley. Burial will follow in Shawmut Cemetery. Pastor John Samanie will officiate. Gerry’s family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 1:30 PM (EST) until the service hour at the church.

Patrick “Pat” Conner, age 64, of Valley, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama.
Pat was born in Alton, Illinois on August 27, 1957, to the late Dale Conner and Jean Thomasson Conner.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years Melanie Conner, son, Blair (Megan) Conner, Omaha, NE, daughter, Marissa (Jay) Siggers, Lanett, Alabama, sister, Sue (Rick) Bystry, Jacksonville, Illinois, Mike (Maryellen) Conner, Portland, Oregon, nieces, Emily and Katie, nephews, Matthew and Danny, grandchildren, William Conner, Sye Siggers, Ella Siggers.
Pat worked and retired from Mead Corporation after 32 years of service and then he went to work for Hanwah for ten years before retiring.
Pat was an avid University of Auburn football fan.
