Larry Jerome Teel Jr., 44, of Lafayette, AL was arrested for DUI

Corey Micheal Coulter, age 19 of Valley, AL was charged with Failure to Appear for Possession of Marijuana 1st

Kendarious Miguel Robinson, age 29 of Auburn, AL was charged with Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Possession of a Concealed Weapon without a Permit

Jason Daniel Smith, age 47 of Lanett, AL was charged with Domestic Violence 3rd and Criminal Mischief 3rd


Lanett Police also reported the following incident:


Theft of Property 2nd and Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle were reported in the 600 block of S 4th Ave.

Johnson Brown announces the passing of the following:


David Abney, 47, passed away on Saturday, October 1st, 2022 at the Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Georgia. He had been in declining health for several months.


David was a happy, cheerful man who was always ready and willing to help a friend or a stranger. He could fix almost anything. He was lovingly referred to by his family as “our little handyman”. Most of his friends just called him “Tater”. David had many talents but his main trade was welding and painting. His number one sport was fishing and playing with his dog Rocky. Occasionally he enjoyed getting in his mother’s kitchen or firing up a grill and surprising everyone with a delicious meal. He will be greatly missed.


David is survived by his wife, Amanda; his parents, Bobby and Donna Abney of Huguley, AL; sisters, Myah Abney of Atlanta, GA., and Gena Rogers of Anderson, SC; brothers, Shayne Abney (Breanna) of the Hopewell, AL Community, Trace Abney of Huguley, AL, and Robbie Abney of Anderson, SC; great aunt, Betty “Boo Boo” Mason; special close friend and her children that referred to David as “Big Daddy”, Jillian Ray and Taylor Foster & Brynlee Teague.


He was preceded in death by his brother, Jonathan Abney; grandparents, Calvin and Martha Abney and Gene and Dorothy Smith.


Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 4th, 2022 at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Followed by Interment at Fairview Cemetery. with Pastor Jay Ezell and Pastor Lon Hurst officiating.
