Local Officer of the Year Recognized; Lanett's Waldrop Receives Proclamation

LANETT- On Monday's Lanett Mayor and Council Meeting, Lanett Detective Robert Waldrop was recognized for his outstanding work on the 2018 Farmers and Merchants Bank Robbery. Waldrop was named Local Officer of the Year in September by the United States Attorney General's Office for the Middle District. Waldrop received a special proclamation.


"Sergeant Waldrop's efforts in assembling the case against the offenders greatly increased the safety of the citizens of Chambers County. These efforts earned him recognition as Officer of the Year from the U..S. Attorney's Office. Now, I Jamie Heard as the Mayor of the City of Lanett congratulate Sergeant Waldrop on this most prestigious accomplishment", read Interim Police, Chief Richard Casner.


A humble Waldrop accepted the proclamation.


"This truly was a group effort from multiple agencies, multiple officers, and multiple departments. I would not be standing here today if not for everybody else. I am very

appreciative to them, and their work on the case", said Waldrop.


Afterward, the Lanett Council gave Waldrop much-deserved applause.
