Mr. Tommie “Teddy” Benton, a resident of Lanett, AL, died Thursday, January 13, 2022, at his residence.
Graveside Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. (EST) on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Pine Hill Cemetery, 22nd Avenue SW, Lanett, AL with Pastor Caterris Tucker as Officiant/Eulogist. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.
Public Viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, January 18, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.
Tommie Lee Benton was born on December 17, 1939, in Chambers County, Alabama to the late Homer Benton, Sr., and Iola Griggs Benton. Throughout his life, he was affectionately called “Teddy”.
On Thursday, January 13, 2022, as Tommie approached his last hours, he was surrounded by his family to bid him a safe journey. He bid farewell to his loved ones and entered into eternal rest with the Lord.
Tommie accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with the Mount Hermon Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Louis Upshaw. He possessed a radiant personality that reflected love, cheerfulness, patience, and kindness. He was truly an inspiration to his family and his many friends.
Tommie was preceded in death by his siblings, Willie Charles Benton, Dorothy Ruth Benton, Arthur Charles Benton, and Willie Louis Ferrell; two special nieces, Mae Aggie Trammell and Kim “Diane Benton; and, two special nephews, Norman Charles Walker and Daniel Benton.
He leaves to cherish his memories: two devoted sisters, Mary Helen Walker and LeVorn Ferrell; two loving brothers, Homer Benton, Jr., and George Benton, all of Lanett, AL; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
