Mrs. Martha Faye Fetner Yarbrough Obituary

Mrs. Martha Faye Fetner Yarbrough, age 86, of Valley, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, August 8, 2022. She was born July 8, 1936, to the late Frank and Effie Fetner.

Faye is survived by her devoted husband, Felton Eugene Yarbrough; her loving son, Michael (Jan) Yarbrough of Valley; two granddaughters, Tai (William) Boos and Teel (Adam) Traylor all of Auburn, Alabama; the five lights of her life, her great-grandchildren, Bella Boos, Sadie Traylor, Connor Boos, AJ Traylor, and Michael Traylor all of Auburn, Alabama; two sisters, Glennella Hall and Nellie Lynn of Valley; two brothers, George Fetner and Marvin (Dottie) Fetner of Valley; and a multitude of nieces and nephews who all adore their Aunt Faye.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her precious daughter, Sheree who was never far from her thoughts; her brothers Dwight Fetner, Bill Fetner, and Charlie Fetner; and her sisters Dorothy Nell Fetner, Mary Brown, Lucille Tomer, Sara Moore, and Betty Phipps.

Nanny, as she was known by her immediate family, was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church, where she spent decades serving in the nursery, singing in the choir, taking care of children in Vacation Bible School, hosting bridal and baby showers, and supporting a variety of other ministries. She was so grateful for her church family and truly lived to serve. Faye loved Jesus and loved the people around her. She always welcomed friends, neighbors, and everyone else with open arms and treated them like family. She had a way of letting people know they are special and loved.

Psalm 16:11 says, “In your presence, there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” While she will certainly be missed on this side of glory, we rejoice in knowing that Nanny is in the presence of her Savior and is basking in the fullness of joy. She set her mind on the things of Heaven and stored up her treasures there. What a blessing she now has in laying them down before the throne of God.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at the Fairview Baptist Church with interment following in Fairfax Cemetery.
