LAFAYETTE- On Friday, the Chambers Academy Rebels got back on the winning track, and put an end to an uncharacteristic 2-game-losing steak with a 49-14 win over Edgewood Academy in front of the Rebel fans.

Rebels rushed their way to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter thanks in part to Luke Tarver, and Braxton Yerta. Tarver rushed for 155 yards and 4 touchdowns, while Yerta rushed for 130 yards and 2 touchdowns. Rebel Tyson Hewett also chipped in with 94 yards, and a touchdown run.

"It was really good to get back in the win column after two really tough 2 weeks. We hadn’t lost two in a row in over 7 years. You start to doubt yourself when that happens, but our kids did a great job of believing in our system and not pointing any fingers. I told the kids our season started this Friday and they responded like I hoped they would. We were very physical and took control of the game from the start. Our offensive and defensive linemen were the keys. We had 360 yards rushing at halftime which speaks for itself. When you do that you should win", said Chambers Academy Head Football Coach Jason Allen after the game.

The Rebels are now 1-2 on the season and will hope to build momentum after the win.

"Next week we play a really good Crenshaw team at home. They will be very physical and well-coached. We need to build upon what we did this week and keep improving. I like what our team can become", added Allen,

The Rebels host Crenshaw Christian Academy in a non-league outing on Friday, September 9th.
