Robert "Wayne" Birditt Obituary



Mr. Robert “Wayne” Birditt, age 72, of Valley, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, April 27th, 2022 in Opelika, Alabama. He was born on November 13th, 1949 at the Langdale Hospital in Langdale, Alabama.


Wayne is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mattie Brannon Birditt; son, Rodney (Wendy) Birditt; daughter, Amanda Shea Rhodes; granddaughter, Katelin (Colby Crowe) Rhodes; grandsons, Reilly, Bailey, and Zachary Birditt; great grandsons, Brycen Green and Colt Crowe; sister, Donna (Rusty) Huffman; nephews, Mark Birditt and Jordon Huffman; special friend, Brayden Green; his fur babies.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Rob” Birditt and Annie Lee Birditt; step-father, Charles Gibson; brother, Tony Lee Birditt.


Wayne was a member of Three Pines Independent Church. He was a jack of all trades and an avid painter who enjoyed working, flying airplanes, driving race cars, canoeing, camping, fishing, and working with the Boy Scouts of America. He loved his fur babies.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30th, 2022 at 2:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. The Reverend Wayne Prickett and the Reverend Danny Shurett will officiate. Wayne’s family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.


In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, www.kidney.org or to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org in memory of Wayne.
