Robinson, Williams-Benson Named CCSD Teacher's Of The Year
LAFAYETTE- Last Wednesday, Chambers County School's Superintendent Casey Chambley, and members of the Chambers County Board of Education held a special school board meeting at LaFayette High School where they named the 2022 teachers of the year for elementary as secondary.
Dr. Sheila Jones, Director of Curriculum and Instruction K-8 spoke to a room full of educators, and family members of Teacher of the Year nominees, and afterward Superintendent Chambley presented Tammy Robinson, a fourth-grade teacher at Fairfax Elementary as the Elementary School Teacher of the Year.
An emotional Robinson accepted her award and thanked her school for the support.
"Fairfax staff members are blessed to have Mrs. Robinson as part of the Fairfax family. Mrs. Robinson provides an atmosphere that makes her students feel comfortable and have the desire to learn. She provides a safe atmosphere where instructional time is valued. She teaches and models classroom expectations that keep her students focused, and allow bell-to-bell instruction to take place. She creates room transformations that are engaging where students can see that learning can be fun", said Jones about Robinson.
Following the Elementary School Teacher of the Year, Jones presented, 7th/8th Grade science teacher Dr. Vickie Williams-Benson at JP Powell Middle School as Secondary School Teacher of the Year.
"Dr. Vickie Williams-Benson's teaching style, what she means to JP Powell Middle School, and her ability to motivate students are of the highest caliber. She teaches from bell to bell, in every class, every day, and in a dynamic and hands-on manner that reaches and engages students. Dr. Benson goes the extra mile, reminding students that anything is possible. She is compassionate, creative, crafty, devoted, determined, and driven", said Jones about Benson.
