Special Weather Statement From Chambers EMA



The Chambers EMA issued the following statement regarding the Severe Thunderstorm Warning:


Alert:

...Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of Lee, northwestern

Bullock, Macon, southeastern Tallapoosa, southern Chambers and

central Montgomery Counties through 500 PM CDT...

At 410 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along

a line extending from Sturkie to near Franklin to Sprague. Movement

was east at 40 mph.


HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around

unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is

possible.


Locations impacted include...

Auburn, Opelika, Tuskegee, Valley, Lanett, Notasulga, Smiths,

Milstead, Pike Road, Smiths Station, West Point, Shorter, Franklin,

Waverly, Cusseta, Beulah, Lake Tuskegee, Shopton, Tuskegee National

Forest and Beauregard.

MAX HAIL SIZE...0.75 IN

MAX WIND GUST...40 MPH

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM CDT for south central, southeastern, and east-central Alabama.
