LANETT- On Monday, Lanett Mayor Jamie Heard, and Council recognized one of the most accomplished classes in school history, the Lanett High School class of 1961.
Councilman Tony Malone read the proclamation as an estimated 15 classmates looked on with pride.
The class of 1961, is truly special, as many went on to become educators, and had a profound impact on our community. A little over 110 graduated from the class, making it the biggest at that time.
Afterward, the class informed this reporter that they have a busy weekend ahead of them. On Friday, they will meet for dinner at Milano's in Valley, and on Saturday they reconvene at the Huguley Methodist Church for a meet, and greet followed by a concert with music from the 1950s as well as 1960s,
All of the council members extended much-deserved gratitude to the class of 1961.
