The undefeated 2-0 Springwood Wildcats continued their winning ways on Friday with a rout of Evangel 52-32. A team that very little outside of the school on Cherry Drive was talking about is now the team that everybody is talking about. The Wildcats are winning, and the community is loving it.

The Wildcats, who only posted one win in 2021 are now 2-0 and are embracing the new 8- man football. Springwood head coach Joey Burch liked the way his team fought, despite some mistakes.

"Coming off last week's win, we were a little inconsistent in practice this week, and Evangel is a good team with some good athletes on both sides of the ball. Obviously, we had some metaltal breakdowns, but to our credit, we played really hard. We ran it and blocked very good up front", said Burch.

Johnathon Johnson, and Cayden Cook ran for a combined 407 yards, and seven touchdowns behind huge holes generated by the Wildcat offensive line to lead Springwood.

"A good win, but here are things we can definitely work on, but overall I was impressed with our unselfish play, and that's a credit to our team". added Burch.

The Wildcats will try, and keep their winning streak going on the road against Meadowview on Friday.
